Privacy Policy

Shelfworth ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at shelfworth.net (the "Service"), which helps people catalog the books they own, track what their collection is worth, and buy, sell, or trade special editions. Shelfworth is operated by an individual based in the United States. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. Questions: ldavis182@gmail.com.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your email address, username, and password (passwords are handled and stored securely by our authentication provider, not by us in plain text).
  • Profile information — anything you choose to add, such as a display name, bio, or country.
  • Your collection data — the books and editions you add, reading status, ratings, notes, photos, purchase details, wishlists, and lists.
  • Marketplace activity — listings you create and messages or trade proposals you send to other users.
  • Submissions — edition or price information you submit for review.
  • Payment information — if you subscribe to Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive limited billing status (e.g. whether your subscription is active); we do not store your full card details.

How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the Service and your account.
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • To process Pro subscriptions and manage billing (via Stripe).
  • To send transactional email such as sign-up confirmations and password resets.
  • To respond to your questions and support requests.

What you choose to make public

By default your collection, wishlist, and profile are private. You can choose to make your profile, collection, or wishlist public from your settings, and you can list items for sale on the marketplace. Anything you make public — including your username and any items you list — may be visible to other users or visitors. You control these settings and can change them at any time.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and protect your session. We do not currently use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy, disclose it on our Cookie page, provide a way to opt out, and honor recognized opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC).

Service providers we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with providers that help us run the Service:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and backend hosting.
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
  • Resend — sending transactional email.
  • Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.

We also use public book and pricing sources (such as Google Books, Open Library, and marketplace sold listings) to build our catalog and estimate values. These are used to enrich the catalog and are not a sharing of your personal information.

Your choices and rights

You can view and update your information in your account settings, and you can request that we delete your account and associated data by emailing ldavis182@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your information, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — which we do not do. We honor Do-Not-Track and GPC signals where applicable.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and delete it within a reasonable period after you ask us to delete your account, except where we must retain certain records to comply with the law.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
